Scottish Wilderness

3 DAY TOUR

Enjoy getting close to some of Scotland’s locals including seals, puffins and hairy Highland cows on this superb tour.

 

Day One

Start the day by making your way towards Rannoch Moor and into famous Glencoe.

You will be awestruck by the beauty of this place.

Hopefully there will be views of Ben Nevis as you tour through the Great Glen which culminates with a scenic drive along the banks of Loch Ness, keep a close watch in case “you know who” makes an appearance!

Shortly you will arrive in Inverness, home for the next two nights.

The stay in Inverness is unescorted.

 

Day Two

Gathering GraphicLeave Inverness and head across the Black Isle to the Cromarty Firth where, depending on tide conditions, you may glimpse seals.

Make a stop in the town of Golspie. High above the town is an astonishing statue, 27m (90') high.

This is of the First Duke of Sutherland, whose agents were involved in the most notorious of the Clearances in the Highlands during the 19th century.

We’ll hear more about this sad episode in the history of Scotland as we head North.

Caithness grew rich with the development of the herring fishing in the 19th century and as a result there are many exceptionally beautiful harbours - as you will discover.

There are telescopes available on-board our minicoach to let you marvel at the wide range of birds & wildlife including Puffins (until early August) and red deer (the "Monarch of the Glen"), which are seen on almost all tours.

There are several stops along the way to give you ample opportunity to relax and take a stroll amidst this beautiful scenery.

 

Day Three

This morning there is an excursion to nearby Muir of Ord, where you can visit a malt whisky distillery.

Later there is free time in Inverness for individual sightseeing or shopping before you rejoin the coach for a spectacular drive through the Highlands.

From the Spey Valley and the Cairngorm Mountains.

Travel through Glengarry to the pretty victorian resort of Pitlochry.

After a short break, make your way through the gentle rolling countryside towards Perth then onwards to Edinburgh.

Highlands and the Isle of Skye

3 DAY TOUR

This very special tour combines a relaxing two night stay in Inverness and will show you some of Scotland’s finest scenery, including a wonderful full-day excursion to the fabled Isle of Skye!

 

Day One

Departing from Edinburgh make your way to lonely Rannoch Moor and into Glencoe, Scotland’s most famous glen and the scene of the terrible massacre in 1692.

Make a stop in the midst of this awe-inspiring scenery where you can enjoy the magic of this special place.

From Fort William the striking scenery of the Great Glen unfolds ahead of us – first Loch Lochy, then Loch Oich and finally Loch Ness.

Travel to the attractive village of Fort Augustus then drive the entire length of Loch Ness.

Stop at Urquhart Castle where you can visit the castle and enjoy a cruise on the loch.

Shortly you will arrive in Inverness, home for the next two nights. The stay in Inverness is unescorted.

 

Day Two

Gathering GraphicEnjoy the highlight of our tour - a full day excursion to the beautiful island of Skye.

Make a photo-stop at Eilean Donan Castle, perched on its island at the head of Loch Duich.

You will marvel at the views when you stop at this most picturesque of castles.

Soon you will be crossing “over the sea to Skye” and visiting the beautiful gardens of the Clan Donald Centre before enjoying the dramatic scenery of the famed Cuillin Mountains.

Later you will have time for some beach combing before returning to Inverness.

 

Day Three

Day Two

Day Three

A day of nature and scenic beauty today as you travel to John O’Groats and the Far North.

The emphasis is very much on nature and hope to see red deer, seals, puffins (until early August) and hairy Highland cows along the way.

The tour takes you to Golspie then through the lands of the Duke of Sutherland - when you’ll hear all about the notorious Highland Clearances.

We will pass many stone-age sites before arriving in John O’Groats.

There are several stops along the way to enjoy the dramatic cliff scenery of the northen coastline before returning to Inverness.

 

Day Four

This morning there is an excursion to nearby Muir of Ord, where you can visit a malt whisky distillery followed by free time in Inverness for shopping or sightseeing.

Later this afternoon rejoin your motorcoach for your tour south. Your route will take us to the gentle Spey Valley with views of the Cairngorm Mountains then through the dramatic scenery of the Drumochter Pass.

There’s a stop in the popular Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, nestling on the banks of the River Tummel.

You’ll soon realise why this town was a favourite with Queen Victoria.

The rolling Tayside countryside will guide us to Perth then head homewards to journey’s end in Edinburgh.

Day Three

A day of scenic beauty as you discover Wester Ross.

From Inverness make your way towards Ullapool for your first visit to Corrieshalloch Gorge where you can see the torrent of water plunging 46m (150ft) over the Falls of Measach.

The next treat is the opportunity to visit lush Inverewe Gardens. In stark contrast to the remote surroundings a wide variety of exotic plants and shrubs survive here, thanks to the efforts of the Gulf Stream.

From Inverewe make our way to Gairloch and then along the banks of Loch Maree, said to be one of Scotland’s most scenic lakes.

A drive through Glen Docherty will bring you to Achnaseen and then journey’s end in Inverness.

 

Day Four

There is an excursion to nearby Muir of Ord followed by free-time in Inverness before rejoining your for the tour south.

The route will take you to the gentle Spey Valley with views of the Cairngorm Mountains then through the dramatic scenery of the Drumochter Pass.
