5 DAY TOUR
This comprehensive five day tour will give you real insight into the spectacular Highlands of Scotland.
Day One
From Edinburgh you make your way via lonely Rannoch Moor to the beauty of Glen Coe.
There is a stop in the heart of the Glen before heading for Fort William. Drive through the Great Glen to Loch Ness, where you can visit Urquhart Castle, for some monster spotting.
This tour is based in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands for the next four nights.
The stay in Inverness is unescorted.
Day Two
Today you enjoy a full day excursion to the beautiful island of Skye.
We make a photo-stop at Eilean Donan Castle. You will marvel at the views at this most picturesque of castles.
Soon you’ll be crossing “over the sea to Skye” and visiting the beautiful gardens of the Clan Donald Centre before enjoying the dramatic scenery of the famed Cuillin Mountains.
Later you will have time for some beach combing before returning to Inverness.
Day Three
The emphasis is very much on nature today and we hope to see red deer, seals, puffins (until early August) and hairy Highland cows along the way.
Your tour takes us to Golspie then through the lands of the Duke of Sutherland - when you’ll hear all about the notorious Highland clearances.
You will pass many stone-age sites before arriving in John O’Groats.
Stop to enjoy the dramatic cliff scenery of the northen coastline before returning to Inverness.
Day Four
Your journey commences with a drive to the village of Achnasheen. Then the dramatic climb over the “Bealach nam Bo”, which means the Pass of the Cattle, in Gaelic.
The Pass is the third highest road in Scotland and climbs to over 2,000 feet! You have plenty free time in Applecross to enjoy your scenic surroundings.
There are several walks to discover, an excellent heritage centre to visit and an abundance of wildlife to enjoy.
Day Five
There is an excursion to nearby Beauly and Muir of Ord followed by free time in Inverness before joining your motorcoach for your tour south.
Your route will take us to the gentle Spey Valley then through the dramatic scenery of the Drumochter Pass.
There’s a stop in the popular Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, nestling on the banks of the River Tummel.
