There can be few B&Bs located on the edge of a royal park, in the shadow of an ancient volcano and close to the parliament building of a major European capital.

There can be even fewer B&Bs that offer all of this and close proximity to the sights and sounds of the city centre.

The Pollock Halls complex is part of the University of Edinburgh and is adjacent to Holyrood Park, site of The Gathering's Highland Games!

Note: All the rooms are offered on a bed and breakfast basis.

Clean, comfortable rooms with a single bed, desk and wash basin. Toilet and shower facilities are communal, and there is approximately one toilet/shower to every four rooms.

Spacious rooms containing 2 single beds and a private toilet/ shower. These rooms are in our new Chancellors Court building and are of a somewhat higher standard that the other room types on offer.

Smoking:

In compliance with Scottish law, all of the buildings in the University are non- smoking, including flats, bedrooms and bar areas.

Additional Beds:

Please note that other additional beds in rooms (such as camp beds, roll-aways etc) cannot be added to rooms due to health and safety regulations.

Cots (cribs):

Suitable for children under 2 years old can be requested for rooms in Chancellors Court and are supplied free of charge, subject to availability (they must be booked in advance). The single rooms available are not large enough to accommodate a cot and comply with safety regulations.

Disabled Facilities:

A limited number of disabled rooms are available in the Pollock Halls.

Parking:

Free parking is available for cars on a first come first served basis, they do not reserve spaces and once full you will be directed to the nearest NCP car park, where there is a daily charge. Spaces are only available to residential guests and you will receive a permit on check in for the duration of your stay. Cars parked without permits are stickered and could be removed from the site. There is no provision available for small or large coaches.

Other Facilities:

There are Laundry Facilities available and all buildings have communal pantry areas with basic heating facilities (microwave, toaster) and ironing facilities. Hairdryers, power adaptors etc are available for hire at Pollock Halls reception (a refundable deposit will be required). Wireless internet access for laptops is available in the reception centre at a charge of £3 for 24 hours.

Apartments are well furnished and linens and towels are provided, as are all pots, pans etc in the kitchen. New Arthur Place apartments sleep 4 or 5 people and Hermit's Croft apartments sleep 5 people. They both feature single bedrooms, a kitchen/lounge/dining area with shower room and separate toilet. Limited parking is available at an extra charge.
